Richmond Rovers vs North West Fire
We did our best and delayed kick off to 11.30 to see if it thawed out enough. By 11.20 it was 50:50. We were prepared to play and so were 90% of the NWF lads but a couple thought it was too hard and they had to go to work tomorrow so they didn't want to play. Ref was prepared to play it but the minority view won the day and the game was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
PS we played an 11 a side game amongst ourselves kicked off a 2pm and we won!!

Well what happened was there was a glare of light and all of a sudden a spaceship landed on top of the changing rooms. The aliens fancied a fry up. Sadly all the local cafes were closed with it being a sunday morning. I suggested McDonald's but the head alien said they didn't fancy their version of a breakfast. Anyway they zoomed off talking the ref as they had a game later that day. Apparantly their ref took ill on saturday. Something like the alien version of swine flu I believe. So we had to postpone it. Oh and the frozen pitch didn't help matters either....
Finally got the game under way after 11 and for the most it was a fairly even game.
Poynton took the lead in the 1st half after a neat finish. D&C had a blatant penalty ignored and went on to hit the bar and have a few other chances come to nothing.
Second half and the mood changed a bit, some daft tackles & kicking out went unpunished and it all came to a head when another stupid tackle on our lad ended up with a daft situation. Ref actually handled that very well although in my opinion the whole thing could have been avoided if he had blown for the earlier stuff.
Poynton down to 9 men seemed to make them try harder, another foul on our DF (in our opinion) saw Poynton double their lead and in the last few minutes they added another. Poor 2nd half showing from D&C.
What I have written above is not a dig at Poynton, they simply played their game, I felt the ref could have had more control at times.
