Westlands vs Richmond Rovers 1sts
Westlands 3 RRFC 3 (HT 2-1)
Westlands will feel a little hard done by tonight after they put us under considerable pressure for long periods of the game. It's not an excuse but we were missing 4 players today who would have probably played in the game.
After taking the lead with a fine header by Craig "Fats" Fairfield from a trademark Ricko free kick we were subjected to sustained Westlands pressure and it was not a surprise when they equalised on 25 minutes only to take the lead 13 minutes later from a soft award of a penalty. Still a scoreline nothing less than Westlands deserved at half time.
Second half we played a little better and got a Fats equaliser from the penalty spot on 71 minutes albeit after having the first attempt saved and a retake awarded by the referee for encroachment by the Westlands player. Captain Ricko dragged to the floor at a corner being the initial offence. Westlands pressure did not abate and they got their lead on 80 minutes although the celebration aimed towards our bench was a little over the top. The pivotal moment in the game came on 90 minutes when an attempted overhead kick by Tipper in the box was adjudged by Referee Lee Jones to have been a foul and a last kick penalty converted again by Fats gave us an undeserved but welcome draw.
Overall the game was an ill tempered affair with both sides doing far too much moaning at the referee.

Poynton WMC 5 - 2 Peover
To be honest I was surprised to find that the pitch was playable, but it was in the best condition it have been in for weeks.
Workies started very well, creating a few chances which were either missed or well saved by the Peover keeper. Peover themselves had a one on one to go into the lead, but a smart save from Hilditch in the sticks kept it 0-0.
The workies them upped it, 3 headed goals from corners (Scorers Kyle Woodward 2, and Paul Garner) and a smart piece of play finished by Tez Butler, took it to 4-0 at half time. Some of the best football the workies had played all season, gave us a deserved lead.
Second half was a fairly dull affair, a combination of Workies relaxing and Peover resigned to defeat meant that the tempo dropped significantly. To be fair to Peover they did get 2 goals back, however before there second, John Cairns finished the game off with a fine touch and finish.
2 big cup wins in succession, hoping to make it 3 wins out of 3 in the group stages next week.
Scorers for workies:
Paul Garner
Kyle Woodward 2
Tez Butler
John Cairns

Tonic 2 v 7 Heald Green
Pitch was a bit boggy and with no ref the teams agreed to play. A bare 11 for Heald Green with Tonic sub taking the whistle, it could only happen on a Sunday Morning.
7 mins in a a decent cross from the right saw a delightful glanced header for the opening Heald Green goal. Tonic then equalised with a long range effort with the keeper rooted to the boggy goal line !!! Another decent cross this time from the left was slotted home to restore the advantage. A simple chip over the keeper (class or luck ?) for the 3rd and a 4th from a charge through the mud down the middle followed just before half time
HT 1 : 4
2nd half tonic hit back following a spill by the keeper, but a corner headed home, then a wonderful move of one pass football (on that pitch was something to behold) and a final 7th muscled in by the stand in striker made it seven

A6 JUNIORS 1 V FC FIVEWAYS 2 CUP MATCH
as a injured sub i saw a great game of football, firstly the pitch, really overgrown, not marked out well and very boggy but ref was happy to play the match.
fiveways was low on players and ref agreed to start slightly later so we could field 11 players!
game started well with both teams putting some great tackles in,fc fiveways had two great chances in the first half with one chance being an open goal but put it wide somehow! a6 kept trying to break fast and got a freekick outside the box which they converted well and put in the bottom corner but apart from that our defence seem to hold them well, think they hit the crossbar too in the first half and our keeper made a few one on one last ditch saves to keep it 1-0.
half time we felt we could really win the game and was playing better, so we came on and ended up with a great pass through for our player jake to put it round the keeper.
kicked off again and the game kept playing at a good pace with great tackles on a bad surface that was getting more boggy, once again our defence was kept busy and our keeper made some great finger tip over the bar saves!
then as we was attacking we ended up with a pen which arron kincaid put nicely away to make it 2-1 to fiveways.
a6 really started trying to come back in the last few mins when we got a break from heavy defending backs to the wall stuff and one of our boys put a great ball through the centre for arron kincaid to go one on one with the keeper and the ref blows offside?,it was clearly onside, and being annoyed at the decision he swore and ended up getting sent off!
last few mins fiveways hung on for a great win with a low strength team, hopefully it will help us kick on now after our two defeats before christmas.
need to concentrate on league now being second and pushing for promotion!

Cheadle Lions v Wilmslow Albion off. Big thanks to Adrian for an early inspection. I've got a player who travels by bus and train from Trafford so it saves a lot of people time and money. Much appreciated.
